Feng Shui, is the ancient Chinese practice of organizing space to create a harmonious living environment, is in use throughout the world to enhance well-being. Coco Palm was designed from the ground up to incorporate the benefits of this ancient art – offering harmony and balance to its guests. The colors yellow and red create a positive energy. The curved oasis pool makes an already relaxing holiday more so.
Hotels are sexy and the Caribbean is experiencing a resurgence of spice and style making them chic and hip. More than ever guests are seeking hotels that offer an experience reflective of the country they are in which is what Saint Lucia’s Coco Palm exudes. Centrally located in Rodney Bay Village, with over 30 bars and restaurants within walking distance including the island’s popular Reduit Beach, Coco Palm encourages guests to explore Saint Lucia both day and night and explore ‘Village Tourism’. Already popular with honeymooners and families, Saint Lucia is now also attracting the independent traveller from all walks. Thanks to the internet, Coco Palm entices the savvy traveller who has used the internet to find Saint Lucia’s Award Winning Boutique Hotel rich in style and Caribbean décor.
Owned by the Saint Lucian Chastanet family, and managed by Mark Ferguson, Managing Director and Jean St. Rose, General Manager, the 103–room hotel has embraced the rich French Creole décor topped with modern day amenities. The Plantation lobby area and all rooms are furbished with rich mahogany furniture and Caribbean colours which instantly add the warmth and comfort of the Caribbean.
All this is no doubt enhanced by the fact that Coco Palm along with the Kreole rooms have applied Feng Shui to ensure guests are comfortable. The interior design team drew on local suppliers and artists with some drawing on Chris Blackwell’s Island Outpost project to create the authentic Caribbean style which strikes you from the exterior warm yellow and red colours to the Plantation style Ti Bananne restaurant.
Having grown up in the Caribbean and worked abroad, the Chastanet’s set out to build a hotel that offered all the things they loved about Saint Lucia including the strong French Creole influence while combining comforts which one has become accustomed with including WiFi, DVD’s, cable television, among others. Guests should be given the option to choose how much time they want to spend watching TV and being connected or just chilling.
Coco Palm offers traditional garden or pool view rooms with the six swim-up rooms with steps straight from the balcony leading into the large free form pool being in great demand. Having hosted a string of Diplomats in the early days with groups and meetings, the eight suites with bedrooms opening on to a lounge have been equally popular as are the Family Suites catering up to five comfortably. But most attractive has been Coco Palm’s rates as guests do not have to compromise comfort for price nor location with rates starting at US$100 and up.
Food is an integral part of one’s holiday and at the Caribbean Bistro Ti Bananne, painted in Caribbean colours with two spectacular murals depicting St Lucia’s banana plantation hand painted by Luigi St Omer and artist Nacazzy. The high ceilings and open kitchen allowing diners to see chef’s preparing their dishes before their very eyes.
